Tall Ships - Sunday Stamps II

I was very disappointed to find that Great Britain has never issued a stamp featuring the Cutty Sark.

I did however find this Clipper Ship from the USA.

USA - 2011
I guess my other stamps this week may not be classed as tall ships, but they are tall to me.

Panama - 1968
And a stamp commemorating 200 years since Captain Cook landed in Hawaii.

USA - 1978

For other tall ships see what has been posted at Sunday-stamps-II-133. and the connecting links.

At an Angle - Thematic Photography.

Angles creep into shots without you always being aware. I have several to meet Carmi's 'At an Angle' theme this week. I may have shown some of these before so let's see how many you can recognise.

Tall Ships - Hartlepool 2010
I'm sure that the angle of of this plane was not intended - did someone let go of the tail?

Nosedive - Mediterranean WWII
Cables on the Clifton side of Brunel's famous suspension bridge are at an angle too it seems.

Clifton Suspension Bridge - 2010
This big beast needs to have its jib at an angle when lifting heavy loads.

Balder - Heavy Lift Crane
The picture was taken during the construction of the Statfjord 'B' deck at Rosenberg Verft, Stavanger in the 1980s

This anchor is at an angle on the quayside in Copenhagen,

Anchor - Nyhavn, Copenhagen
Also at an angle because it was built that way is this Condeep test leg in Stavanger.

Troll test leg - 1980s.
Finally a picture that's out of this world.

Aurora on Jupiter  taken by the Hubble Telescope
Now that's an 'at an angle' shot that I would have loved to have taken.

Transportation - Thematic Photography

Transportation is such a broad them I don't know where to start. When visiting offshore oil and gas platforms I got used to helicopter rides. However this one was much more fun.

Air Monaco - ready for take off 2006
But while I was in Monaco I wanted a ride on the family yacht.

Unfortunately not my family
Back in the 1980s the Tall Ships came to Stavanger, this was the first ship to arrive.

Tall Ship (name not known)
Another ship at its home port looks more fearsome.

WWII Aircraft Carrier
I suppose transportation wouldn't be complete without a car or two. This one is quite humble but has an interesting name.

A humble Corsa going by the name of Winston
Winston was owned by an English girl in Germany. Now she lives in the USA and drives a German car.

I hope you have enjoyed being transported to foreign parts. For more transportation delights just pop across and see what else is on offer at Carmi's thematic-photographic-203
