Sunday Stamps - Illustrations: USA

My contribution is a bit different this week with no actual stamps.

However I do have in my possession two postcards and two envelopes which have suitable 'illustrations'.

USA - Envelopes issued byUSPS

The FOREVER envelope carries the date 2013, the Horses 2007.

USA - USPS postcards

These are dated - Red barn 1995, House 2000.

Presumably these can/could be used without actual stamps attached.

Sunday Stamps - Numbers: Argentina, Bangladesh

Most stamps have numbers to show their denomination even when it is 1st or 2nd. There are many countries with little more than numbers in their design. The plainest one I found was from Argentina.

Argentina - 15 March 1976

However the largest number I found which was not a denomination was this -

Bangladesh - 20 December 1972

Issued for the Independence of 75 Million People and overprinted Bangladesh Liberated.

For more  stamps just visit Numbers and start with two countries in which I spent a lot of time.

Sunday Stamps - Night Views: Great Britain

It is 80 years this weekend since  the start of the Battle of Britain so it seemed appropriate to me to show this stamp showing St Paul's Cathedral.

Great Britain - Europa. Peace and Freedom -2 May 1995

In 1940 searchlights were a regular night view over London.

You would need a telescope however for night views of these.

Great Britain - Europa, European Music Year - 14 May 1985

Which plane is which - well I recognise Saturn from its rings.

Still on the music theme 1973 saw a tour by Pink Floyd.

Great Britain - 7 July 2016
You would have to have been an astronaut to see the dark side of the actual moon,

For more night views check out the links at Sunset on Sunday Stamps

Sunday Stamps - Land and Sea: USA

I looked for something that is found in the sea and came up with a wildlife conservation.

USA - King Salmon - 1956

I was delighted to find that I could show an aircraft carrier as one of my brothers served on British carriers in WWII.

USA - 10 June 1958

This is a Forrestal class carrier from the 1950s of which 4 were built for the US Navy. They were the first supercarriers.

The event was part of the celebrations of the 350th Anniversary of Jamestown, the place where the first English settlers landed in 1607.
