Softness _ Thematic Photography

As we have had snow for over a week snow seemed to me to be the obvious thing to show. I have to admit that my shot is from two years ago but the view from our front door is much the same today.

Snowy Garden
At this time of year when there are no leaves on the trees the branches look anything but soft. Two weeks ago a frosty morning made them look almost fluffy.

Frost Covering
It always surprises me what you can see from your own front door as these 'softened' trees are behind the house on the opposite side of our lane.

Softness always reminds me of when a TV show The Generation Game was all the rage. Contestants were asked to memorise objects passing before them on a conveyor belt.

Cuddly Toys
Which reminds me that macho dogs can be cuddly sometimes.

Duncan and Cameron at ease
But others always get in on the act.

Duncan (or Cameron) and the Cat
However my favourite shot of all is one sent to us by a delegate from Greenland who attended a training course I led in Denmark some years ago.

Softness personified.
For other soft touches I suggest you float over to Carmi at Thematic-photographic-231.

Got the blues - Thematic Photography

Somehow I don't think that you will be depressed when you see these picture selected for Carmi's "Got the blues" theme.

Polar bear with the blues.
Even if that chap was depressed there is no doubting the fun this bear's having.

Polar bear icing
You may say there's no blue in my next shot unless you count the jeans worn by the bike rider.

Road sign - Oxford Michigan
When there are sports competitions between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge in England the participants are awarded a 'Blue."

Oxford. Michigan has its own 'blue".

Oxford, MI, light blue water tower
In England however Oxford Blues are dark blue which would not be as attractive on a water tower.

Meanwhile on the East Coast of England there is this beach view.

Whitby, Yorkshire (looking north)
And if you try hard while you are there you may even get a shot of the replica of Captain Cook's Endeavour

The Endeavour approaching Whitby.
If these views aren't blue enough for you, and even if they are, you should take a trip across to Carmi at thematic photographic 199.

Thematic Photographic - Blue

I'm new to Thematic Photographic which I came across on another blog I follow. The topic 'blue' caught my eye and I remembered some shots I had been sent by a training course delegate  who came from Greenland.

This polar bear seems to be indulging in a spot of sky blue thinking. While the one below is just having fun:

Every day the TV keeps reminding us that this week is supposedly the most depressing of the year. Oh well I suppose I shall just have to wait for these to appear:
