Where you work - Thematic Photography

Not an easy theme when you have retired. If I said where I work is in the house, this might be challenged. Anything I do at my computer is classed as 'playing.'

I guess that where I work must therefore be restricted to outside in the garden - quite a pleasant occupation at this time of year when it is sunny and warm. So here's some shots from today.

With one or the other and often all three the 'day's work' starts here.

It must have been warm for that coat to have been discarded. Perhaps I was waiting for my female assistant.

It's a good thing that she will work for the minimum wage of a worm or two with this lot to tackle.

Shrubs to trim and snowdrop leaves and weeds to remove.

Can you see that flowering dandelion?

Of course there's the lawn to cut

And sycamore seedlings to take out of the gravel

You might think that this is not much of a task but the sycamore count has passed 170 in the last week. There will be more tomorrow.

Then of course where I work will move to the back,

If you are eagle-eyed you might just see the toe of the lady of the house who is lapping up the sun.

All this is a world away from where Carmi works at Thematic-photographic-334.

Where You Work - Thematic Photography

When you have retired like me 'Where you work' takes on a different meaning.

I'm accused of playing when I sit here -

working on my blog.

However when the weather's fit there's work to do outside,

Trimming edges

For some years now I have been fighting a losing battle with a conifer at the front of our house and the gravel pull-in at the bottom of the drive.

The conifer has had to go and hopefully it has made where I work somewhat easier for next year.

I'm pleased to say the lawn has fully recovered from removing the tree and has had its winter cut - nowhere for me to work (I hope) until March at least.

Everything's gone green - Thematic Photography

I was very tempted to put up a series of shots from golf courses when I saw that Carmi had set us "Everything's gone green" as the theme for the week.

However as green is beginning to take over from the winter hues  I didn't have to go far outside our back door for a light green lawn.

We have a hedge at the bottom of our front garden which we watch to see signs of green replacing the copper beech. No luck so far, but just a few hundred feet up the lane someone has had an early start.

Other trees are trying too.

Making a break for freedom

One that's broken out - first sycamore leaves

But it has some growing to do, as has this winter corn which looks like - 

A sea of grass

However someone thinks I need to be reminded by this sign further along the fence.

Yet again my morning walk for a newspaper comes up trumps when I'm looking to meet Carmi's theme.
