Sunday Stamps - Food: USA

In 1999 a series of 4 stamps was issued on one sheet. Each one showed a different berry.

USA - 10 April 1999 - Blueberries

Strawberries

Raspberries

I thought I had all 4 until I scanned the last.

Blackberries

The date gave the game away - this was issued with the set the following year on 15th March.

I have had problems with this topic before. Two stamps from a previous post were:

USA - Berries

I must admit that these are fruits that I enjoy and I understand that blueberries are now regarded as 'superfoods'. 

I have since acquired the other two stamps that were issued with those above in a se-tenant block on 10 April 1999.

USA

The four stamps were issued in different formats as well in 1999, and as strips in 2000. You have to check the date in the bottom left corner to know which you have for single stamps.

Autumn - Thematic Photography

When Carmi sets us 'autumn' as a theme, the trees here in the North of England haven't all changed colour. My tree shot is from 2012.

In October our annual reminder of autumn is provided by scenes like these.

The annual fair is being held this week in the High Street.

Autumn is a time for berries, so here's a recognition test - especially for my daughter. Feel free to tell me/her what they are.

At this time of year, now that the harvest has been gathered in, the farmers are particularly busy.

Fruits of the Forest - Sunday Stamps

This is my 800th post and the 195th week that Viridian has set us a theme for Sunday Stamps. She has announced this week that she will stop hosting the mene at week 200.

I've been participating since January 2011 and must thank Viridian for reawakening my interest in stamps. So I dedicate my 800th post to her.

Fruits of the forest, nuts and berries proved difficult for me this week as I do not have access to a scanner or to my collection(s). I have had to resort to my daughter's collection and use my camera instead.

Great Britain - Holly 2002

For nuts I had to travel to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).

Ceylon - Coconuts

Fruits I found in the USA although you might argue whether these are from a forest.

As you can see photographing stamps with a handheld camera was not as easy as it seemed.
