I showed two local critters last week under the 'Summer' theme. Before I started today I had to check just what a critter was - a living creature I found out, a creature being an animal other than a human. That restricted me as I could not, I thought, consider birds and reptiles.

Giraffe in a Yorkshire wildlife park (c1970) |
|
Foal - Norway (1980s) |
He or she will be quite an age by now.
I wouldn't happy to be in the water with a beast like this.
|
Hippo (Detroit Zoo 2006) |
I would however have been quite content to have a ride on these -
|
Donkeys preparing for a days work (Whitby 2008) |
But they said I was too old!
|
Lambs (Egglescliffe, March 2006) |
From the rear end of a donkey and that uncooperative lamb I'm left with a ewe that must be on Facebook.

Ewe and its lamb (June 2014) |
But don't you just hate it when they show off they have been tagged.

Tagged and shorn (not Shaun) |

So very sweet, thanks for making my morning so happy!
birds and reptiles...definitely critters :)
Gee I thought my lamb was quite unique but I see that Egglescliffe has some quite similar! I love it when you post photos from a while back. Though 1970's does not seem as old for me as it seems for my son!
Those are some cute critters, Bob. (Almost stifles "ewe got to be kidding me!", fails.)
I think anything that moves and isn't a human qualifies as a critter, so I include bees and such as. (Even a flower ostrich!)

Do they still have donkey rides on the beaches Bob? I remember those from a very long time ago. Blackpool I think.
Enjoyed the critters.
A really interesting collection of lovely critters, Bob!
(The dictionary I looked up said "any creature", so that would even include humans, I suppose)
Great critters. Bob! (I assumed "critters meant 4 or more legs" I couldn't get that cosy with snakes!)
Lovely pictures, Bob. The giraffe is my favourite, being part of our wildlife population in Southern Africa.
Jo = there are still donkey rides at Whitby but I don't know about elsewhere.
