Thematic Photography - Technological

When it comes to modern gadgets you could say I'm a bit of a technological dinosaur.

My phone is anything but smart and never rings because no-one has my number. A Pay-as-you-go phone is very cheap to run when £20 lasts just about a year. The only texts it sees are those with offers from the phone company; messages left are from my wife or someone who has a wrong number.

I can manage the Kindle successfully, but I still prefer an old fashioned book.

The I-Pad mini is my wife's. The text too small for me to read and my fingers only leave marks on the screen.

I haven't had a laptop since I finished work and the last one I had failed, and proved irrecoverable by me.

I have some technology toys which I use from time to time.
USB Memory Sticks
However I'm still disappointed that the car isn't real.

Household gadgets remain largely a mystery to me. A washing machine's controls are a marvellous example.

To much choice and information for a 'dinosaur' like me.

However I do know that when it bleeps and the light beneath the Start button glows red that I can turn the thing off.

Fortunately there is one piece of technology I do know how to handle.
Panasonic DMC - F250

And it case anyone gets smart - yes I do know it's set on automatic, but I do have to twiddle that ring on the front.

I wouldn't use the word dinosaur, because I'd never call my mother one, and she lived to be eighty years old and still only had a land line and barely used a typewriter! Sure for her job, even up to age 80 she used the office fax machine and computer, but that was the extent of that! She had all that free time to enjoy nature and people, unwired and fancy free! :)

Like you I tend to be selective in my technological abilities. Washing machine cycles are a mystery to me : but i can deal with cameras and computers and mobiles (normally)

It really is time you men learned to use a washing machine! What would you do if your wife was ill???

I like the new technology! And I'm 80 this year! Though I do prefer a good old fashioned book to kindle!

Gilly - I'd buy a dolly tub and a posh that I know how to handle!

My husband uses our washers and dryers quite happily, but when we go away and are faced with different machines, he is lost. Me I have a PC, a laptop, a Kindle and a tablet, oh and a very uncomplicated cell phone 'cos hubby can't use anything very advanced. He has trouble answering our land line phones.

I love tech and enjoy playing with new gadgets. But I loathe cellphones. I preferred the old days when you answered the phone if you were home and people called back if they didn't find you and didn't expect you to drop what you were doing to chat to them. So despite my love of tech, my cellphone is like yours.. it does nothing but make phone calls and hardly ever rings. Sadly, it is on it's last legs, so I'm going to have to buy another phone soon.

Well Bob, you have almost talked me into getting one of those "sell phones" all the kids like to talk about.
