Post - Sunday Stamps

On a previous postal theme I put up this stamp from Iceland.

Iceland - Universal Postal Union
I must have been blind at the time, not to see the stamp right next to it.
Iceland - UPU centenary 1974
I have also discovered some Italian stamps of a design that seem to be issued every year in different denominations.

Italy (2009 issues)
I like the way the design gives the illusion of post 'speeding' on its way.
Italy - Priority Post
I wonder whether this helps to get them there quicker.

I think you're right about the Italian stamps. I have received some of them with different values.

The stamps from Iceland are beautiful. I have hardly received mail from that country.

Nice stamps, thanks Bob.

The long word and unfamiliar letter on the Icelandic stamp intrigued me. Google translator didn't recognize what I typed, but a Google search asked me if I meant "alþjóðapóstsambandið" and that translates as "Universal Postal Union."

Yes the Italian stamps are the current definitives, its a simple but so effective design. I've never seen the priority one before, I wonder what that gets you.

I love how the designs are so much of their era, the Icelandic stamps are perfect for the 1970s.

I think I have seen the Italian stamp before, on Postcrossing postcards. Sorry don't remember the value. Thank you for sharing all of these.

Those Iceland stamps are beauties!
So are the Italian: a strong design, saying more with 'less'.
Thank you for sharing!

I nearly used an Italian flying envelope too, though mine's a 70 cent value. I think they are very effective.

The postie in the first stamp has a more realistically sized bag than the one in mine. I too like the 'flying' letters.
