The town of Saltburn on the north-east coast of England has had it own Olympics this year thanks to an anonymous 'yarn bomber' who has placed a knitted Olympic scarf and knitted Olympians on the railings of Saltburn Pier.
Saltburn Pier's parallel bars |
There are more parallel bars to be seen on the American flag.
Flag Day 2012 - Downtown Rochester, Michigan |
This picture was taken through the windscreen of a moving car and it was only later that I realised the number of parallel wires it contained.
I believe I've posted a picture from the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre earlier this year. The updated site was opened by the Queen as part of her Diamond Jubilee Celebration and was used by canoeists training for the London 2012 Games.
As part of the upgrade four Archimedes screws were installed to return water from the end of the water course back up to the beginning.

Last summer I caught some swallows getting in on a high wire act beneath parallel high power lines. Perhaps they wanted extra energy for their migratory journey.

I always enjoy a game of golf especially when it gives me the chance to photograph wildlife.
Deer - Mulberry Hills Golf Course |
Amongst the parallel trees, of course.
If you don't think I have done justice to Carmi's parallelism theme then we just might finish in Washington.

Better that you take a look at parallel posters at Thematic-photographic-210

Loved the deer. Remember going to a park in Kent where there were lots of them. The park was near Ightam Woods, Knole Park, it was full of deer.
Love the dear improving the smoothness of the golf course (I'm sure that was what it was thinking ;-) And the photo of the flag and power lines taken from a moving car? I'm jealous, I never have anything good to show when I shot from a moving car. Ah, the straight, straight, straight lines of the Supreme Court...
That deer looks so peaceful. I can almost feel the breeze working its way through the trees as this lovely animal grazes.
Delightful series, Bob. I never realized parallelism could be found in so many places - which is why I'm so glad I made it this week's theme. I'm learning a lot this week!
I hate it when power lines spoil a shot of something. Seems they are everywhere. But, you have certainly found a way to highlight them in a good way with this weeks parallelism theme.
Loved the story of the pier scarf.
Parallel bars and yarn bombing! I love your first photo Bob, and I'm looking forward to the Paralympics too!
cheers
Sue
That water treatment plant shot is full of interesting angles. I had to look at it about 30 seconds before I really grasped it.
I think I know that deer! I nearly forgot there was a Rochester in Michigan....there's one here in Minnesota as well. Great parallels that you have....the building is fascinating! I like the amount of various parallels, that make a person stop, and take notice! Very cool!
You always make me think again about the theme, Bob - some original and interesting takes on this week's one in this collection; love the yarn bomber's work!
I loved the archimedes screws - really interesting shot. And the power lines are good, too. I haven't seen many swallows this year, obviously not enough to make a summer ;)!
I always enjoy a game of golf especially when it gives me the chance to photograph wildlife.
Me, too, Bob! I've never gotten much better at the game, but I always bring my camera. You get pictures you can't get anywhere else. (Especially of the deer, because they're used to golfers there.)

Hi Bob .. great series of parallel lines ... and I particularly loved your American flag with the telegraph wires .. fun group ..
I've written too many letters today - so I have to go horizontal now .. with a wee glass in hand!!
I'll cheer you on too - to nearly matching posts again ...
Cheers Hilary
Wow, so many parallel lines/bars if you take the time to look around and find them. Great idea to keep your camera with you so you are always ready to capture a special moment or something interesting.
love the Para-lympics & yarn bomber!!!
it's amazing how often we are 'paralleled' out there...and never really notice!! 'til now!!
you're good...i can never seem to get a decent picture while driving!! ha!
great parallels!!
I'm so happy you have pictures of Archimedes screws! I was thinking about them a couple days ago (really) but don't know where there are any around here.
Your red Archimedes Screws are cool. Great pictures.
