Mundane Planes - Sepia Saturday

Just back after a week away in Cornwall. Route was from Leed/Bradford airport with Airsouthwest to Newquay with a short stop at Bristol on the way. The aircraft was a Dash 8-300; sorry Airsouthwest but the only photo I could find is from Japan:

All Nippon Airways Bombadier Dash 8 Q300, JA805K on Memanbetsu Airport.

Otherwise the only planes I could find are on postcards that I sent to my daughter back in the 1980s.

Postcard from a trip to Saarbrucken from Norway.

On this occasion I was routed via Amsterdam where I found this card of Schipol:

You'll find many more planes at Sepia Saturday 74

How lovely to fly to Cornwall. We had many family holidays there and always left at midnight to drive down and beat the rush. Memories of endless hours trying to keep two small children entertained: “Are we nearly there yet?"

Airports fascinate me. I travel back and forth to Austen Texas through Houston a lot. I like Southwest when I go that way. I will probably never get to Europe now.

What great artwork on these planes, the first one and the last one...I like the blue paint and the style of the airport is very cool! Airports are an exciting place...in High School I wanted to be a flight attendant so bad...but my mother thought it would be a horrible choice and there were so many other better careers!

I love that shot of that airport with all the planes looking like they're being fed at the terminal. It looks like a plane nursery.

I like your title. Mundanity is the fate of most great inventions.

I have some of those Lufthansa cards too. They still give out postcards, unlike most airlines. it seems like a wonderful and cheap marketing tool. I love the Schipol postcard!

I just remembered that I have a negative of a French flyer and his plane. Darn should have scanned that for SS! Planes are something we take for granted these days, but imagine how small the world without them.

I always think the aerial views of airports are interesting, especially with the jets sitting at the ready, as in your last photo.
