International Stamp Exhibition 1980 - Sunday Stamps

I have taken the easy way out this week by reproducing Britain's Second Miniature Sheet issued in 1979.

The explanation mentions a third sheet to be published later - I don't have this!

As this is a week when you may post stamps on any theme, check out Viridian's Sunday Stamps 19   for others' choices.

I like the way London 1980 is designed. Am amused by the stamp designer's name--Stamps by Stemp.

This is a very nicely illustrated and colourful set of stamps.

I didn't know they were issued as a miniature sheet. I have the PHQ cards.

Interesting to learn when we started issuing miniature sheets. When reading the excess face value was going to a philately fund I thought how different to the recent Morris stamp booklet.

Hi Bob .. I have some stamps here from my Mama and have used one or two sets to blog from - use the info .. and add my own thoughts.

Good to read you've just been to Cornwall too - my Mama used to use the Newquay - London, or Gatwick route .. but I used to glide at Perranporth .. before they shut it down & opened a club up near Lands End ...

brought back some memories .. and 1978 was when I was on my way to South Africa ..

Cheers Hilary
