Sunday Stamps II; A-Z 'N' Maps & Zealandia

I have found another stamp showing a map of the country's location. Although the country has the name of Sabah it used to be:

North Borneo - 1 February 1961
Now for something old as well as new -

New Zealand - 1901
The female figure of Zealandia was intended to become a figure of national personification representing New Zealand in the same way that Britannia represents the UK.

For other 'N' related stamps please visit the links at Sunday-Stamps-II-151.

Hi Bob - interesting about Sabah - it's not an area of the world I know at all well ... then of course NZ - it's interesting that Zealandia is now a recognised area ... well done - cheers Hilary

Seems New Zealand chose a different bird for national personification:-) Interesting how these things cannot be imposed but happen. Borneo always sounds exotic but is a place I know little about.

I'm rather glad for NZ that this Zealandia did not take off!

Zealandia... hardly a catchy name :)

Great classic stamps as usual.

1901? wow, that is not something you see often around!

and another Queen stamp for which I may say is fine :)

Sabah is now the name of North Borneo? Like Hilary I don't know much about that part of the world either.

Zealandia? Hope it catches on for them.

As if the Sabah references in the comments confused me enough, I also had no idea that there was ever a "North Borneo. My new item learned for today!
