My elder son lives in Fowey on the south coast of Cornwall in the south-west of England and I've shown fences from there before.

Much older is the view through the window of St Catherine's Castle at Fowey.

The author Daphne du Maurier had a long association with the area and in 1929 wrote her first novel, 'The Loving Spirit,' in the house behind the blue fence.

At the right end of
the house is the figurehead from the schooner Jane Slade.
Daphne was inspired to write the book after discovering the wreck of the
schooner in Pont Creek. The figurehead was added to the house at a later date.
The Slade family were
shipbuilders in the nearby village
of Polruan village of Plyn
Daphne du Maurier’s
son and his wife live at Ferryside today.

Your son lives in a beautiful place. I remember the Ferryside photo from sometime before, really a charming place. Your first photo is just a perfect setting.
I can see myself living there, hunkered over a laptop with the view of the water, so that I can look up from time to time for a new shot of energy.

I went on a lot of side trips to Cornwall during my time in Devon and fell in love with it as much as I did Devonshire. Thanks for visiting. Glad you can still translate the sign in my photo. What part of Norway did you spend those ten years?
@Denise - I spent nearly all my time at Stavanger on the west coast, but work took me to other places - usually there and back in a day.
@Amy - She wrote Rebecca later (1938 I think). The movie changed the ending!

I read a bit of Daphne du Maurier when I was a teen! Nice to see photos of where some of her inspiration came from.
