Bridges Over River Maas - Rotterdam

In May 1940 the bridges over the River Maas at Rotterdam were the scene of fierce WWII battles between Dutch and German troops. The bridges appear on my Weenenk & Snel postcards from the early 1900s.

I also located another photo of the bridges from between 1890 and 1905.

What a very enchanting place that was...both bridges are just amazing...a visit there would be fantastic!

I notice the addition of antennas on the bridge on the left in the later picture. I'd love to see this view now, and compare changes from the three.

The bridge entrance you can see in the first postcard is beautiful.

Hi Bob! I'm visiting blogs from the A to Z Challenge list, and yours looks really intriguing. I look forward to your posts in April.
