Legends of Hollywood - Sunday Stamps.

When on holiday earlier this month I complained to my daughter about the stamps she uses on letter to us in the UK. As I've mentioned before I don't really like those dazzle type stamps where companies 'advertise' their name. When I mentioned this to her she had just been out to buy some stamps.

This is what she gave me:

Legends of Hollywood
It was pure chance that she bought this sheet of stamps but quite a coincidence since her favourite book is 'To Kill A Mockingbird.' Incidentally she has even named two of her dogs G(J)em and Scout after the children in the book - although Gem is a girl and Scout the boy.

The Post Office loves to see things like this that end up being saved and not used for postage.

Unfortunately there isn't any variety in the stamps they sell to use on mail to other countries.

Hmmm.. I would have liked some of those! Loved the book too.

A legend he was! There was a documentary about him recently showing him going round to small theatres where he gave an ‘audience’. A very witty and handsome man and a wonderful actor to boot. He deserved to be honoured in this way.

I loved the book and loved the movie, esp. his performance.
For USA people, two 44 cent stamps and a 10 cent stamp equals overseas postage. I do this for many of my postcrossing cards.

I think you're quite lucky your daughter writes real letters to you, in this day and age. :) Those are beautiful stamps.

I didn't join in this week, sorry to say.

Bob, Bob...:)...the world is CHOKE-FULL of companies that 'advertise' their name on their products.
It's normal, is it not? :)
Do you drive a nameless car?
All the store food that you buy has a brand name; even the generic name is a store brand name.

Gregory Peck got a cool stamp from USPS!

There's nothing wrong with a stamp issuer to simply display its name/website. :)

@Postcardy: buy discount postage, 70-100% of face value, older stamps still valid for postage, from stamp shows/dealers.

Ahh, the dashing Gregory Peck. My mum had a huge crush on him :D I love the book, and I was able to watch the movie version as well. Terrific acting from the main cast.

Sorry I didn't post anything about next week! Let's keep the theme open - anything you wish. It's Summer and vacation in the northern Hemisphere anyway.

One of my favorites books also. And I've always wanted to somehow use the name Scout. Atticus is a cool name too.

I knew he look familiar to me. I didn't watch the whole movie but I read To Kill The Mocking Bird twice. :)

Thanks for visiting my Sunday Stamp.
