The Owen Falls Dam, later named Nalubaale, is on the White Nile in Uganda near the city of Jinja, 4 kilometres from the point at which the river leaves Lake Victoria.
Switching continents now to South America, 17 June 1966 saw the issue of a stamp commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Engineers.

I am binge watching Joanna Lumley's trip up the Nile this afternoon, I wonder if she'll pass by/mention this dam.
I've never got a letter form Uruguay, I think (neither from Uganda!).

A fine pair of epaulettes although their symbol of a castle seems a bit anachronistic. A nice bright stamp to send in the post.
