We have had some winter fogs the last two days but there is no sign of one today when Carmi gas set us a 'greyish' theme. So I looked back to January a few years ago and this is what I found.

Not fog, but snow blotting out the sky. |
However there was sufficient fog to ground helicopters when we visited Tresco on the Isles of Scilly in August 2008.

Hill fog - Tresco, 2008 |
And enough to distort the shape of rocks on the same day.

A 'beast' in the mist
The foggiest shot I have taken for a while I posted late last year in another of Carmi's TP themes ( here when you scroll down).

Wow, take me to the last photo, please! Your greyish Bob, are dreamy locations of weather bliss to me! I too, will post soon, because, there's a lot of greyish in our world!
Nice photos and landscapes Bob. Especially the greenygrey ones!
fog/rain/mist makes the best pictures :O)
Love these photos! This week's theme certainly reflects my mood and your photos lift my spirits some. Thank you!
Ah yes, I remember that snow!! Love the Tresco shots - I tend to think there is always blue skyand sun down there!
these are beautiful fog images. I especially love the last one.
Lovely days for boating and hiking, Bob!

It is true that sometimes January can be truly monochromatic. Last year I remember looking out of the window and not seeing a single thing that was in colour!
I love a good fog - so cozy and quiet. Great pictures.
I love how soft these scenes seem to the eye, both in the way the edges of the rocks are seemingly smoothed over, and in the way the overall tone seems to soothe the eye. Brilliant captures: you've inspired me to think differently the next time the fog rolls in around here. Thanks Bob!
