Mary Hannah and George Albert by the sea
George Albert and Mary Hannah
We believe this to be a photo by a seaside photographer - again we don't know where. Nor can we date it from the car or the gas lamp in the street.
Don't forget to check out www.sepiasaturday.blogspot.com again this week.

Very interesting pictures Bob.
A trip to the seaside was the highlight of the year for most people at the time of these photographs, which makes the decline of Britains seaside towns in recent years all the sadder.
I hope you're able to find out more. In any case, they make a lovely couple.
By trying to track the deck chair and family discussions the beach scene may be at Hunstanton, Norfolk.
It looks as if the Greaves Brothers chair manufacturers came from Oxford, Buckinghamshire (according to Google), so after looking at a map, I'm surmising that Southend-on-Sea might be a logical spot for the photo.

You are right, not necessarily sepia but old and interesting. I can't get over how folks dressed in everyday clothes to go to the beach. It was such a normal thing I guess folks would just come and go anytime of the day. Great post.

I wrote a comment, but I don't know where it went. This is a fine SS post. Enjoyed the pictures and story.

Silly me because in the first shot I thought "Well hey, they're kind of old to be backpackers, but more power to them!" Then I looked again and realized they were chairs.
So dressed up for the beach?! wonderful photos. Definitely not a NZ beach.
I can confirm that the location is Old Hunstanton in Norfolk.
Great pictures. And I almost feel as if I know them, there is something about the faces. Maybe we are related somewhere along the line : although I suppose we are all related somewhere along the line.
I recall comments here before as we shared photos of folks dressed up for the beach, seems strange today. But these are lovely photos and certainly old enough for Seipa...
Great photographs, Bob. George Albert has the look of Nigel Bruce about him...what do you think Holmes?
Others have said, I say again I'm surprised to see people so dressed up to go to the beach. I wonder what stories this couple had to tell. They look old enough to have had lots of interesting experiences in life. Does Amy know any more about them? Great photos.
We shall never know. Amy would have been 105 this year if she had still been alive so goodness know what Mary Hannah and George Albert got up to.
