Pets - Sunday Stamps II

I just knew I should not have used that 'Pet' series from the USA a few weeks ago Pets (USA)

That has left me struggling for something to show this week, until I remembered lots of cats.

Bulgaria - 19 June 1967
And from slightly earlier from the same part of the world.

Romania - 20 March 1965
I've used up all my stamps of dogs before and I'm not really a cat person but now I'm surprised at how many cats appeared.

Easter - Sunday Stamps II

I looked for an Easter bunny but found this stamp from 1997 instead.

Great Britain
In 2009 my article in the magazine Ireland's Own entitled 'Mad as a March Hare' include a paragraph which read -

"Our name for Easter may be derived from a goddess associated with spring called Eastre. The date of Easter is tied to the moon, and the hare has strong lunar associations, with hare hunting being a common activity in England."

Now that's probably illegal.

However I have discovered a rabbit on a set of pet stamps from the USA.

It may be Easter but I'm spending my time decorating. For those wanting to see more Easter of favourite stamps just check out the links at Sunday-stamps-ii-122.html

Pets on Sunday Stamps

I bought two sets of stamps this week from my local market trader. One was the set of George Stubbs paintings featuring dogs - but I will save that for another time. The other set was just right for this week's theme of 'Pets.'

Great Britain
The set commemorated the 150th anniversary of the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in 1990.

Here are the other three that make up the set.

Pick your favourite and guess which one is mine before you check out other pets, including one of the dogs painted by Stubbs, at Viridian's Sunday-Stamps-154.
