Sunday Stamps - Different Fonts/Scripts: Iceland

When in Norway I found out about various sagas. I heard of some from Iceland but never saw or read any. And this week's stamps have set me off looking for what they were.

Iceland - 1 October 1953

Iceland - 20 March 1970

It looks like a long job to identify what they are.

Oh, wonderful stamps! I like stamps depicting old books. Not so sure that we would like to read those long sagas nowadays. But maybe we'd do.

Icelandic is hard enough to read without adding this convoluted (but nice looking) script!
I'm not sure why, but I've always preferred the Norwegian myths to Greek or Roman

I like all the detail you can see on the first one, manuscripts are endlessly fascinating. All I know is its 15th Century.
