Sunday Stamps - Flowers: Argentina, Australia

Some of the flowers in our garden seem more spectacular this year and I guess we all need a bit of cheering up.

Sturt's desert pea was found in 1699 by the English explorer William Dampier (1652-1715) in the dry sandy islands of Dampier's Archipelago, north-west Australia. The English botanist Allan Cunningham collected it in the same locality in 1818. Specimens from around that area were also collected by Benjamin Bynoe, the surgeon on the voyage of HMS Beagle.

I must say it is much more spectacular than the sweet peas in our garden which have yet to flower.

Sunday Stamps - Mother and Children; Great Britain

The Queen addressed the nation at 9 pm on the 75th anniversary of VE last Friday at exactly the same time that her father (George VI) on VE Day in 1945.

It seemed appropriate for me to show these stamps today.

Sunday Stamps - Water; Sweden

In 1998 I met two men from Sweden's Post Office at an auditor training course I led in Denmark. 

They sent me these stamps depicting Stockholm - 

Sweden - 14 May 1998

These are stamps for letter post (brev).

You can see from the text that Stockholm classes itself as the city on the water.
