Sunday Stamps Ii A-Z 'W' USA

The 150th anniversary of the Ratification of the Constitution of the USA was commemorated with a stamps issued on 21 June 1938.

In case you wondered how this links to 'W' the building shown is the Old Courthouse at Williamsburg.

Franklin D Roosevelt was the only US President to serve 12 years. He died in 1945.

In 1903 Wilbur and Orville Wright's plane flew 120 feet in 12 seconds. This stamp commemorated their feat.

That plane looks so unstable to me!
Judging by the wardrobe of those in the first stamp, I guess it is meant to show a 1788 scene.
(hoping the current occupant of the WH never gets a stamp)

Hi Bob ... Interesting about Roosevelt serving so long, until his death ... he was central to 20thC history; while I'd love to visit the Williamsburg Courthouse; The Wright brothers really started something didn't they ... great 'Ws' ... cheers Hilary
