War or Peace - Sunday Stamps II

War or Peace is a topic that is always appropriate at this time of year. WWI was the war to end all wars and as we know, it didn't.

On 21 June this year the UK Post Office issued a set commemorating the so called 'Great War.' They also a mini-sheet at the same time.

For other wars or peaceful scenes please visit the links at Sunday-Stamps-II-100.

Hi Bob ... this isn't a set I picked up ... but how interesting - to see the numbers of parcels - they must be so important to receive during the two Wars and other wars ...

Thanks for sharing these - cheers Hilary

I am amazed that the post office operated so well during WW1. Thanks for sharing this set.

When they issued a smiler sheet I thought Royal Mail weren't going to do anything with 'proper' stamps for the service, it's a nicely thought out sheet. The number of postal items is mind boggling.

I wonder if all those parcels actually arrived where they were intended to go. Interesting stamps. I visited the actual train carriage in France where they had signed the armistice many years ago.

As I wrote in my post, I really love the stamp of the soldier writing a letter.
