Old - Thematic Photography

For this week's theme I thought I would show some 'old' photographs from the 1950s.

They have a sporting theme until you get to the present day!

Just study them carefully.

Stamford School 1st XI
Those in the blazers have won their cricket colours. That's me second from the left.

Here I am again in 1954 or 1955 at the ground of Lincoln Lindum.

Relaxing while the Peterborough team was batting
And how better a way to relax than with a companion like this.

Later to become my wife
Over 60 years later the blazer is still around.

In full colour now, casually draped on my office chair, or
On a hanger
And that's because I'm old as well  - and can no longer get it on.

For other old interpretations check out the links at Carmi's Thematic-Photographic-355.

I don't have any clothes that old, but I do have my wedding dress, 48 years old which I can still fit into & it's a bit too big, but your blazer looks none the worse for age. If you know anyone who makes teddy bears out of old clothes, that would be a good conversion. Had one made from old flannel jacket that our late son wore.

Great memories, and wonderful old photos! Have you realised in the top photo that the boy on the far right of the front row has his arms folded the "wrong" way round?? Would have got in terrible trouble in my day at school! ;)

Thanks Michele but I wonder whether you would think the same now.

Gilly - hadn't noticed but he was left handed!

The jackets were spiffy. I liked the stripes that make it to be so ivy league. I think it is great that you still have the jacket.

Great photos, Bob. You and my husband would have a lot in common; he still has his old team jersey from when he played minor county cricket in England, many many years ago. And his old school caps, too.

Great shots, Bob. I'd hang onto that jacket, too.

And congrats on a successful marriage!
