Personally I hate having to stand with a group of photographers when I want to take a shot. This week's prompt reminded me of that.

I worked with British Rail a lot in the 1990s and saw my fair share of trainspotters armed with cameras but none quite like this:

They were out to photograph a special train - a farewell to SNCB/NMBS Class 51 diesel locomotive in 2003.
I have no idea what this lot were doing in Dublin:

Mind you I'd be happy to join this pair no matter how long I had to wait.

Cherry trees are blossoming here in Atlanta right now.

ReplyDeleteWhen you see your own beautiful shots of the blossom, it's easy to understand why they were all jostling to get their shots in the first picture.
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall once staying art that hotel in Dublin. Perhaps they were waiting for me to emerge. I agree with your general tenet - photography is, and should be, a solitary affair.
ReplyDeleteBradford pears and cherry trees are all in bloom here, and yesterday we had snow. So much for an early spring!

ReplyDeleteBob, I went ahead and changed pictures to extra-large. They are hard for me to read, but if you click on them they get big enough. I did find that when they were huge, if you click on them they go to a readable size also.

Lovely blossom and all the home comforts on hand. There are three little cherry trees on the street adjacent to mine, always the first to flower bet they are regretting it now in the swirling snow. My partners a Steam fan so I've been amongst the rail fans on numerous occasions, although not in Belgium, its probably only a matter of time.
ReplyDeleteA very funny choice, Bob. Train-spotters still baffle me, as do their compatriots, the bus-spotters and plane-spotters. But then I collect photos of odd musicians, so I probably baffle them. And yesterday it snowed here in the mountains too.
ReplyDeleteBob, why to go far when the best is near; beautiful spring blossoms. I do not like mass photo shoots and I am not patient enough to wait for wildlife to appear. Flowers, yes, they do not run away.

ReplyDeleteI'm with you Bob. I hate being part of a crowd of photographers and always look for a different angle. Sometimes it's unavoidable - like when we were at the Grand Canyon last year :)

I went recently to a photowalk with other Flickr members from Montreal,
and I managed to lose them!!!!
How I ever managed that, I'll never know!! But it was at our botanical garden and it was a productive visit if not exactly a lovely one, due to the mob of lousy parents and uneducated children...
Oh well, at least, I got some nice pics to show for!!!
And I didn't kill/slap/maim anyone.

@Bruno - Definitely not this years blossom; it's stii cold with snow showers. It will be May before we see the blossom like that.
