Looking Up - Thematic Photography

I often think that we do not look up enough. As soon I saw this looking up theme I remembered two photos I had taken where I had deliberately shot what was over my head.

Brunel's SS Great Britain towers above in its Bristol dry dock.

However there was another shot where I lay down on my back much to the amusement of other people.

Last week when the theme was trees I thought about using this shot, taken looking up.

Sometimes though it's not necessary to point your camera straight up as you can get a power shot without doing that. (I just wish we could get some weather like this now!)

    I actually like that power lines shot best of all. Mind you don’t fall down a manhole whist you’e doing all that looking skywards Bob!

    Fantastic photos. I look up all the time - as I'm scared of heights, looking down on things isn't an option. You get a totally different perspective on things, as your pics show.

    Hi Bob .. the two Brunel shots are fantastic .. the size of the ship and the rigging with the flags ..

    Yes - it would be lovely to have some blue sky with white fluffy clouds - mind you we've got that here for now ..

    I agree - we don't look up often enough!

    I certainly admire people who can take great pictures and yours never fail to impress me.

    I only wish I could take even reasonably good pictures.

    @Jo - SS Great Britain was the world's first great ocean liner when she was launched in 1843. She was then the biggest ship in the world and the first steamship on the Atlantic crossing. She was in service later as an emigrant steam clipper taking people to Australia before being converted back to sail. Herworking life ended in 1933 and she was scuttled in the Falkland Islands in 1937 from where she was salvaged in 1970 and brought back to Bristol to be restored.
