The danger is, as you get older, that you may not see your feet when you look straight down. However I do have shots that will qualify, some from years ago.

Moving on about 20 years to Norway I was looking down again.

The Pulpit Rock (Prekestolen) has a vertical drop of 1982 feet (604m) down to the fjord.
Much more mundane is the shot I took looking at a drain last winter.

When we were at Richmond Castle last week I baulked at climbing the narrow spiral staircase to the top - that would have been an ideal place to look straight down. So I have had to settle for this view from the walls.

Of course if you are not careful someone may catch you looking straight down.

Bob, that first shot is so beautiful - all the elements made me look and look. The waves at the cliffs, the headstones, the towers, the chimneys - I love it!
I suffer from vertigo to some extent, so that second shot is not my favourite :)
That first black and white shot is really superb! Lovely shadows. And I love the iced drain too - sort of thing we miss unless we are looking where our feet are going!!
Now you have me thinking - I must have some shots looking down from castles and towers, from our visit to the UK in 2007.
There are not many tall buildings left here in Christchurch (NZ) to look down from :(

Love the first shot! Also, I've never seen a drain freeze up like that. Quite lovely and interesting in its own way.
