Twelve Days of Christmas - Sunday Stamps

There is one set of Christmas stamps that I have always liked. Published in 1977 they have stood the test of time and show up the poor issues of recent years.

Great Britain
The set takes us through the rest of the carol.

Should anyone wish to refresh their memory you may sing along with this -

before you cross over to Viridian's Sunday-stamps-149. for more Christmas/holiday stamps.

I think this set is one of the more memorable ones.

That certainly is a fun piece to have in your collection!

I like the 12 days of Christmas set too. It is interesting how they fit 12 days on fewer stamps.

Hi Bob .. couldn't agree more - a delightful set; the rubbish we've had at Christmas time in recent years has been depressing to say the least ..

Happy Christmas and New Year - cheers Hilary

This is a wonderful set. And definitely one that any collector would want all of, not just one or two!

I haven't seen the recent British Xmas stamps so I can't comment. But others think they have gone downhill....
This is a lovely set. Thank you for participating!

I never hear the song without thinking of the comedy version. The woman thanking her boyfriend.

Great stamps.

Fun stamps, and I enjoyed the singalong also.

Thank you for adding the song to the stamps :-)
At first sight I thought 'what do pears have to do with xmas?', but now I've learned about it!
Although the order in the song seems to vary: did I understand well that there are nine drummers on the stamp and twelve in the song?
Anyhow, great stamps and lovely song!

Heleen - there are several variations to the song which you can check out athttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twelve_Days_of_Christmas_(song)

These stamps are really different from all Christmas stamps I've seen before! They should reissue them.

Great set of stamps BUT... I'm going to be singing that song all day now! Aaagh!

Thank you for the link, Bob! Very interesting to read how a song develops during all those years. So your stamps show the first published, in 1798, "Mirth without Mischief" version!
I agree with Hawwa, it would be nice when they are reissued (especially I like the Partridge-in-a-pear-tree stamp :-) )

Yes they were a lovely imaginative set, maybe added to by singing along while sticking them on your Christmas cards. I didn't remember there were different designs of one value which is a nice touch at Christmas when the stamped mail is at its peak. Pity doesn't happen with the Christmas stamps nowadays although they do seem to issue unnecessarily large sets of one value stamps the rest of the year.
