Celebrate the Century - Sunday Stamps

As Viridian has given us a free choice this week here are four stamps that I acquired recently from the 'Celebrate the Century' series.

USA Celebrate the Century - 1920s
The reverse of all stamps in the series carries text that tells you about the stamp concerned. The reverse of these four, thanks to the demon scanner, is a mirror image but I an sure you can work it out when you see what it says.

About the stamps
Apologies for the damage to the Margaret Mead stamp. I also have to confess that I had not heard of her or Emily Post.

To see what others have chosen this week cross over to Viridian's Sunday-stamps-143.

Those are all nice designs, and I like seeing information on the back.

This is a great series, certainly topped to perfection with the inscriptions on the back. Strangely enough I was just reading about the practice of putting things on the back of stamps the other day.

These are great stamps to remind us of this decade. Not everyone was rich as the Gatsby set however.
thank you for participating!

Having studied anthropology in college and having read many 'women's' magazines... I have heard of both. As well as Babe Ruth, though I admit I didn't make the connection between him and the chocolate bar for many years! (I preferred Oh Henry! anyway).
Love the Gatsby Style.

I hadn't heard of the last two either. I like the Gatsby and the Emily Post stamps very much.

I had forgotten all about Margaret Mead, although had I been asked to guess a decade she would represent I would have gone for the forties. I suppose I cam across her work in the sixties and thought of her as being as almost contemporary, I seem to recall that she was still academically active then. Great stamps and another example of stamps initiating thought and debate.

Nice stamps. How I wish every stamp will come with the info at the back like these ones!
