Three of Us - Sepia Saturday

I've had a problem with this weeks prompt.

Each week I check out sites like creative commons to find appropriate shots, especially in those weeks when I'm short of photos of my own. This week I found such startling videos and photos, so much so that I re-titled this post 'Three of Us' rather than the 'Threesomes' I had intended.

I know the exact date that the first shot was taken, 55 years ago next week,

Bridesmaid, Claire, and the Happy Couple
On Stamford Station, Lincolnshire waiting for the train to whisk us off on our honeymoon.

Years later in the 1980s I'm with two ladies again, as the result of a liquid evening.

Can you spot the bride?
My final picture was taken at Yarm Tennis Club when the juniors had some lessons from the man who was then one of the best British players, 15th in the world.

Buster Mottram - Yarm Tennis Club (1970s?)
So these are my groups of three all of which will not make you blush as those videos and threesomes photos would,

For more groups of three visit the links at Sepia-saturday-191.

Love to see these photographs, and yes, the one of the station going on honeymoon! Many congratulations, Bob.

That railway station photo is intriguing. I notice you are holding both girls' hands, but I take it that is the bridesmaid in her formal long dress. I remember the days when smart suits were the standard "going away" outfits for both bride and groom - though I never had the hat. And as I moved to country life in the Borders, I hardly ever wore the suit again.

I am mesmerized by you in that hat, Bob! That must be your wife on the right (my right, your left), is it?

I love the one on the platform. Happy days!

Bride on the right?

Good for you -- fifty-five years is, indeed, a milestone!

I love your bride in the railroad station. You made a splendid choice for it to have endured for fifty five years. Congratulations!

I love trains and there is something romantic about going on a honeymoon on one! Glad the romance is still there after 55 years!

That was the bridesmaid not the bride.

55 is a good long time Bob. We reach 41 next month.

55 years, well done and congratulations. It is unlikely I'll achieve that fabulous milestone as I got married so late but who knows - I have ancestors lived that long!

I can remember going to the Adelaide Railway Station several times to wave off a honeymoon couple as they caught the Melbourne Express from Adelaide to Melbourne. It left at 7.00pm and the honeymooners would have a sleeper for the overnight trip. No planes much back then.

Congratulations on the 55 years - we're coming up 52.

I like train stations, but I bet that now there aren't any happy couples heading for one immediately following a wedding.

Wonderful picture at the station. Your wife's going-away outfit is very elegant.

The railway platform snap is my favorite too.

I'll chime in and agree. The photo at the station is charming. Those were the days.

Congratulations on an impressive anniversary! Love the fashions and yes, surprised to see the bride in her gown, not a going-away dress.

The bridesmaid's dress was so lovely -- I would have liked to have seen your b bride's dress -- tho she looks very stylish in her suit. Happy 55th anniversary to the two of you.

Excellent choices, Bob, since part of the theme photo was to pose a question of who is who. Are there many cowboys in Western England?

Looks just like my going away outfit. The fabric was faille.

Yes, I thought the use of the word 'threesomes' might generate some comment, but your contributions are, of course, totally above board, and quite entertaining, as ever.

Bob, these are great photos. I like your cowboy hat so much! Looks like the threesome you're in the middle of there was lots of fun!

I don't know -- I'm blushing over that cowboy hat.

I felt right at home here on your 'Three of Us' post with that photo of you in the Cowboy hat. Us Texas Gals are quite accustomed to huggin' it up with guys in Stetson. Loved the photo of the Bride in her wedding dress at the train station. No time for changing, huh?

Thanks for visiting CollectInTexas Gal on my return to Sepia Saturday. I enjoyed your comment about your middle child...my reply..."Yes, those middle kids have it rough. However, their is a plus side...they are usually the ones that bond with #1 and #2 and often get away with more mischief. Thanks for commenting."

Thanks for all the best wishes.

Just to avoid further confusion - the bridesmaid is in the long dress, My wife is nearest the platform edge.

What a pittoresque railway station, a nice way to start your honeymoon. We had something like that too in Amersfoort, but they demolished it in the 1990s to replace it with a huge ugly modern building.

Alex Daw said...

Yep - I'm with everyone - great trio of photos - a holy trinity in fact. Rob - you need to get out of Amersfoort now - it sounds well...unsettling to say the least. ;)

Dude...I'm diggin' the hat!

Well done for remembering your wedding anniversary many men don't. A great three people shot (avoided threesome word) .
